Niagara College, widely regarded as one of Canada’s most innovative applied learning post-secondary institutions, has expanded its international reach through satellite campuses located in Taif and Makkah, Saudi Arabia, and most recently, Al Ahsa and Al Majma’ah. With a strategic focus on developing “world-ready and work-ready” graduates, the campuses specialize in delivering a number of diploma programs in the areas of tourism, hospitality, business, IT, graphic design and a foundation program for English language development.

Applications are invited for the position of Academic Advisor at Niagara College KSA, Al Ahsa and Al Majma’ah female campuses. Reporting to the Associate Principal, Academic, the Academic Advisor is responsible for student life, student advocacy, academic coaching, customer service, campus and community referrals and institutional outreach.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Advise students on college policies and procedures, program requirements and related academic matters
  • Closely monitor students to proactively identify at-risk scenarios and identify opportunities to develop, implement, measure and improve academic success strategies
  • Provide students with proactive guidance on acclimating to their new graduate lifestyle and building supportive personal environments and best practices to facilitate their student success
  • Connect with new students upon acceptance of admission to ensure overall readiness and escalate outstanding matters that would affect their ability to have a smooth and successful start
  • Provide comprehensive outreach to students who are at risk of not meeting satisfactory academic progress including communication across a variety of stakeholders including parents
  • Provide proactive and timely outreach, referrals and intervention through a variety of communication methods
  • Develop processes, programs, activities or workshops to support the student population
  • Collaborate with Faculty and Department Chairs regarding student concerns, student progress and course content
  • Resolve student issues and concerns independently or in collaboration with other departments within the campus
  • Support key departmental operations by tracking statistics, establishing and maintaining student files and generating supporting documentation as required 

Required qualifications, at a minimum, include:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree (minimum) with Master’s Degree preferred in a related field three with (3) years’ experience working in an advising role within a post-secondary / adult education
  • An understanding of current trends in academic advising and higher education
  • Excellent interpersonal, customer service, public speaking, computer and analytical skills
  • Skilled at connecting and building rapport with students from diverse backgrounds
  • Superior time management, prioritizing, collaboration, and team-building skills
  • Thorough understanding of the social and cultural needs of the student population in Saudi Arabia
  • Excellent communication skills (English and Arabic) with students and staff at all levels 

The ideal candidate will also possess the ability to:

  • Manage multiple tasks and successfully meet deadlines
  • Adapt to changing assignments with a view to finding creative and innovative solutions
